5 Ways To Create a Mindful, Minimalist Work Space

Exclusive Interview With Tom Dixon Regarding His IKEA DELAKTIG Collaboration

10 Interiors + Lifestyle Things I Love For February

10 Special Things That I Loved About Formland Fair in Denmark 2018

Bought this book at @artillerietstore kitchen store in #gothenburg last year in September during my @westsweden tour and read the whole thing on the plane ride home. The author really writes the same way I do about entertaining at home and how to make a lovely gathering without a ton of fuss and stress. I often 🤔 think we exhaust ourselves planning for guests and forget the reason to have people over is to share love and friendship and something homemade and yummy to eat. I’m having a party for Aidan tomorrow so I’m really making sure I don’t overdo it, as I have the tendency to go “all out” and forget to just chill out! Anyway, lovely book if you are interested in, “Learning to embrace the imperfect and entertain either thoughtfulness and ease.” I’m happy that my way of living, the things I’ve written into my books for the past 7 years, and the themes on my blog and how I embrace imperfection and placing the importance on creating a happy home above a perfect one, is finally becoming more of a mainstream “trend” in thinking where I live in Northern Europe. There was so much emphasis placed on minimalist, perfectionist, Kinfolk lifestyle which is gorgeous but NOT ME so I always felt frustrated by it all. Finally this idea of imperfection and good editing (neither minimalist or maximalist, but balance) is slowly being pushed as the new norm. I will continue to embrace this lifestyle, trend or not, as I have from the beginning when I sat in design college and my professor said I needed to give more attention to symmetry and coordinating color in a space and I fought hard that this wasn’t important to how I create a space for living - it’s more of a gut feeling that drives my decorating choices combined with functionality and practicality, but never ever perfect symmetry or the cleanest lines. Looking back, she was merely training me so I could learn the foundation and then break the rules later, but I was so young and didn’t see it that way. I still like a more messy lived in decor, yet still tidy and smelling clean and edited well, but that’s my version of perfect and balance. Everyone has their own version. Anyway... this book is beautiful and well written!

There is a beautiful post linked on my insta stories today, to decor8, where you can find a story produced by Anke Ilner showing us 5 Easy Ways to plan a small party at home. I love the stylish simplicity and how encouraging she is in her column! The focus isn’t on perfection but on connection. @fantas.tisch #poppy #poppyseed #tabletop #flowers #decoratewithflowers #decor8 #ankeillner #fantastisch #partyplanninng #feierlaune #decorateforaparty #flowerstagram #flowersoftheday #happy #fridayvibes

These concrete mugs (and plates) are definitely a favorite of mine from @seraxbelgium at the moment - what do you think of these? #seraxbelgium #serax #frankfurt #messe #ambiente18 #ambientefair #ambiente #tabletop #trend #design #decorate #concretedecor #concrete @ambientefair

I loved looking at @pordamsadesignforchefs for the tabletop - creative ways for chefs to present food, especially the Michelin star 🌟 places... this is white glass, they had black glass and so many other interesting shapes and textures and materials to present food on. #pordamsadesigneforchefs #pordamsa #ambiente18 #ambiente #ambientefair #frankfurt #tabledecor #tabletop #glassware #theartofplating #gastronomy #foodporn

I first discovered @likeconcrete in January at @formland_official where I spotted and loved these gray organic concrete trays because I have this thing with trays, especially marble and stone ones, and so seeing concrete was very exciting. I watched the founder give a very good speech, I remember being overly exhausted but I stayed and stood an hour just too listen to him, I thought he made a lot of great points about selling at fairs, customer bonding and in general I liked his spirit - he’s Danish but to me, has a very American entrepreneurial business sense that I believe will be his superpower behind his brand. But these trays! Aren’t they gorgeous? And like he told me at his stand at @ambientefair “When you get sick of them, just ground them up, they become the best fertilizer!” - and although I would never want to destroy these trays, it is comforting to know that you could turn them into something that helps, and not harms, the planet later on. #concrete #likeconcrete #formland #ambiente #ambiente18 #danishdesign #frankfurt #messe #sustainableliving #sustainablebrand #sustainabledesign #decor8 #decorate #tray #trays
