Light, clean and classic! This collection of chic bathrooms exhibit rich palettes and clean lines. The use of materials such as warm timber, creamy marble and gleaning chrome provide a subtle nod to the lap of luxury, while modern amenities keep things looking fresh. It's a failsafe formula for creating the instant classic.

Luxe materials and fittings deliver a five-star hotel ambience. "Bathrooms should be glamorous, and this one is," says designer David Hicks. "Warm softness is contrasted with crisp, sharp detailing. It is like being in a luxury hotel." The re-finished vintage chandelier adds a little something extra to this space.

Light and air take pride of place here, providing the perfect place for precious me-time. "The approach with this family bathroom was to create a light, modern space," says Fiona Lynch, who created the design for the bathroom. "The freestanding vanity bench with timber dowel leg detail and mesh drawer fronts is subtle, but textural. Neutral tiling sits neatly as a light backdrop."

Fun and functionality collide in a children's bathroom. "The aim was to provide views to a much-loved gum tree and to create a robust children's bathroom, that would be a fun and creative experience for the two toddlers who would be using it," says Jeremy Bull, the bathroom's designer.

Glossy tiles bounce sunlight around a pared-back bathroom. "It's designed as a wet room and it's really spacious. The window is covered by foliage, which adds a fresh touch and makes it more soft and interesting," says interior designer Justine Hugh-Jones Design.

A connection with nature frames this pared back design. "My approach was to create a simple, no-fuss design with interest created through minimal fixtures, beautifully textured tiles on the walls and linen-look textured tiles on the floor," says designer Mardi Doherty of Doherty Design Studio.

A former box room was given a new lease of life when it was transformed into a beautiful bathroom in this grand Victorian terrace. "We kept the period features and used them to enhance what we brought to the space," Steven Whiting of Whiting Architects says. "The taps and finishes are modern, but pay tribute to their surroundings."
