Well hello, September. I barely saw you sneak up on us. That may be because I’m heading to a tropical island tomorrow (woot!) so I have little else than “can I get away with a bikini” on my mind. But it is, in fact, time to say see ya’ to summer, so this week we’re going to focus on that glorious transition to fall. Words like crisp, cozy, layered and textured suddenly feel like they should apply to any and everything. Even though I’ve been steering you toward bright white spaces all summer long, it’s time to turn over a new leaf, even before the first hits the ground.
Currently, I’m feeling inspired by warm rich walnut brown for the new season. The hue pops off white walls, adding drama and character to any space. Palettes of lush creams and taupes soften the look, while black accents add a harder-edged, modern touch. Hints of ochre, brass and gray and even touches of soft blue all play nicely as well. Whether used in spaces filled with vintages pieces, or in a sleek modern room, these color combinations are the perfect way to evoke that warm, welcoming, collected vibe one craves this time of year. Not fully convinced? Scan the following 10 fall rooms and tell me if they don’t have you ready to bust out a sweater, a good book and nice glass of red wine (sorry rosé, but your time in the sun is coming to a close.)
